Toroslar is one of thirteen districts of Mersin. Toroslar lies in the north-eastern part of the city centre. Toroslar is one of the largest centres of the district with its area. In Mersin climate is suitable and summers are hot and humid, winters are mild and rainy. Toroslar District has a Governor and Mayor. Toroslar District has a population of 276,420 people most of whom emigrated from south eastern Anatolia regions. Our Directorate, as an umbrella organization for education, we have 125 schools(pre-primary, primary, secondary, private schools, deaf&dumb and an Autistic School with total 59600 students at age of 5-18. There are 17 high school with 13419 students most of which are VET-vocational high schools, and 3500 teachers are working for the purpose of happiness of individuals in the future. Toroslar District has received intensive migration from the eastern districts and neighbouring provinces. The peasant population in Toroslar is densely populated, it is very interesting that there is almost no native population of the city of Mersin.
